Celebrities Love…Maison Michel Bunny Ears

March 15, 2010 – 1:50 am

These bunny inspired headbands by Michel Maison have been causing quite a stir.

It will come as no surprise that Lady Ga Ga wore this look but we’re so used to seeing her theatrical looks now that it hardly seems shocking anymore.

Both Lily and Lady Ga Ga wore these ears with the built in veils across their faces.

Lily was on stage so I can kind of forgive her.

The Olsen twins wore these headbands to the “Opening Ceremony Flagship Store Opening” in Tokyo back in August.

As FC has recently found out, I love these girls and in my eyes, they can do no wrong.

However, on this occasion I’m a little lost for words.

I don’t like this look, I never have but I suppose I expected them to wear them at some point or another.

If they were going to channel this look anywhere then Tokyo was the right place as kitsch pieces like this always seem to go down well in Asia.

So what’s your verdict on these ears?

A cute accessory or a major fashion no-no?

These black mini mouse style headband with a veil can be purchased from Browns Fashion for £270 / $438.91 / €304.81

30th Blue Dragon Film Awards

March 14, 2010 – 7:50 pm

It must be Awards season in Asia, because here we have the amazing looks from another Asian awards ceremony.

Yoon Jin Seo blows me away wearing a red Chanel Resort 2010 off-the-shoulder gown.

I’m glad she added the black fur stole, because I wasn’t too crazy about those chiffon sleeves.

Kim Ha-Neul wears a grey Christian Dior Spring 2009 dress we’ve seen a few times before on the red carpet at Asian event.

Most notably by Monica Mok at the 28th Hong Kong Film Awards.

Kim accessorizes her dress well with silver earrings and a matching clutch.

This Blumarine Fall 2009 dress is quite dramatic and very difficult to pull off so I’m surprised to see it worn on this red carpet.

Son Ye Jin pulls off this black and navy strapless dress surprisingly well.

The gowns shredded skirt and awkward bustier didn’t overwhelm her.

Kim Hye Soo continues the growing love for Salvatore Ferragamo on Asian red carpets.

The actress must have been checking the keyhole detail on her Fall 2009 dress often as it looks like a wardrobe malfunction was just waiting to happen.

I love this shade of pink on Han Ye-Seul.

Her off-the-shoulder gown with a rosette detail on the bodice looks very much like a gown from Valentino’s Spring 2009 collection.

I’m desperately trying to pick my chin off the floor.

May I just say wow to Kim Ok-Bin. What a stunning gown, draped with an equally stunning pink fur stole.

That twisted detail on he skirt reminds me of Eva Longoria’s Atelier Versace gown.

Ha Ji-Won’s also gave me goosebumps.

Her off-the-shoulder look is giving me a Westwood vibe.

I love the contrasting colours, thigh-high split and those stunning gold strappy sandals.

How can she be so beautiful with minimal make-up? *sulks*

Park Bo-Young does it again.

Last time out she looks like she was floating on a heavenly cloud, this time she gives us tweety bird.

The beautiful actress glided down the red carpet wearing a gorgeous canary confection, which could look quite costumey on some but stunning on Park.

This is a lot of gown for the tiny actress Kim Min-Hee, but she makes it work.

I love that jewel detail which breaks up all that black.

Wore Wore Gucci Better? Evan Rachel Wood, Pixie Lott or Shakira?

March 14, 2010 – 7:50 am

Evan Rachel Wood first wore this Gucci dress back in June to Hollywood Life’s 11th Annual Young Hollywood Awards and I love what she’s done with it.

Bare legs, check. Red nails, check. Cinched in waist, check. Great accessories check. My only complaint would to be to say she could have picked a more exciting shoe.

When Pixie wore this dress to the Q Awards in October I wished she’d left her tights at home.

I’m also not completly sure what’s going on with the flowers in her hair?! However, this dress does really suit her rock chick vibe. I just wish she’s styled it better.

Shakira was last to wear this Gucci number in November to the Bambi Awards and it’s left me in two minds.

I think she wore it well, teaming it with simple accessories and knee high boots but I just don’t understand those tights! Am I missing the point or do they scream ‘ice skater’ to anyone else?!

For me, Evan Rachel Wood wins this style battle. She’s worn this sequined number with the boldness it deserves.

Elie Saab Spring 2010

March 13, 2010 – 1:50 pm

He had me at Look 1.

Elie Saab’s Spring 2010 collection is by far the best show I have seen this fashion week.

As one look passed me by before I could say “Oh my…” the next one was even more spectacular.

In the Escape Ephémère where the presentation was held, the room was completely black from the walls, to the seats to the black sand which covered the runway.

This allowed the embellished looks to really dazzle on the runway.

Yes the King of Bling is back.

Beyonce Knowles will be drooling over these embellished gowns and cocktail dress that I saw on the runway.

Shoulders, backs, asymmetrical straps, hip pockets all got the embellished treatment which looked like gold and bronzed stones.

The collection wasn’t all about bling.

A few looks were presented with a stunning print which was like a pixelated view of a starry night.

Other looks using a soft beige, sunset reds, evening blues and deep midnight black colour palette were draped, structured, high-waisted, cut-out, asymmetrical, plunging, backless, accented with long gold necklaces, paired with black or nude sexy leather strappy sandals and model carried a stunning Elie Saab clutch.

I know I always say this but I can’t wait to see this collection on the red carpet.

Nelly Furtado and Dita von Teese were in the front row. Will they be the first?

We will have to wait and see.

I promise to invest in a better camera next season.

I’m uploading my pictures on http://twitpic.com/photos/fashion_critic_

But do check out the pictures on Style.com when they are uploaded.

I hope you enjoy my video and grainy pictures.

Runway To “Shutter Island” New York Premiere – Michelle Williams In Lanvin

March 13, 2010 – 7:50 am

Michelle Williams continues to promote her new movie “Shutter Island”.

This time she’s in New York.

At her Berlin premiere not many of you liked her Chanel look when I thought she look beautiful.

On this occasion this Lanvin Spring 2010 asymmetrical ivory dress with a ruffled neckline doesn’t work for me.

It washes her out, the hair and make-up are oh so very plain.

The runway shoes are so very unimaginative, plus I hate that they are black.

Aside from the physical attributes, she totally sucks the life out of this stunning dress which the model makes look so sexy.

Nil points on all fronts for Williams.

Runway To The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards – Jenni Falconer In Alberta Ferretti

March 13, 2010 – 1:50 am

Jenni Falconer walked the red carpet at “The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards” in London yesterday.

The GMTV presenter who wears an even mix of high-street and high-end, this time opted for an Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2009 dress.

Her blue floral Alberta Ferretti cap sleeved silk dress was paired with tights and black heels.

It was a fairly mild day in London yesterday, so Jenni could really have ditched the tights to add more of a spring time feel to her look.

You may remember that Sandra Bullock wore this same dress back in June on the Today Show with Matt Lauer.

Fan Bingbing’s Promotion Of “Wheat”

March 12, 2010 – 7:50 pm

Fan Bingbing joined her cast mates at the premiere of her new film “Wheat” last week, which opened in cinemas yesterday.

Many of you know I have a massive girl crush on the beautiful Fan.

She always looks so amazing on the red carpet, and admire the fact that she doesn’t stick to the same formula.

As you can see from these two looks she can go from quirky a Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 look with YSL heels, to a stunning Valentino gown paired with an exquisite diamond necklace.

You may remember that Rachel Weisz wore this same gown during Cannes Film Festival.

In promoting her new film, Fan has appeared on two major magazine covers.

The first was the September 2009 issue of InStyle China.

She is an absolute knock-out on the cover wearing a embellished wool crepe two-tone dress.

Hair, make-up and accessories are all working together to make this a stunning cover.

Her second cover is the October 2009 issue of L’Officiel China magazine, where she wears a Chanel Fall 2009 look which includes the runway white hat.
